Santa Ana, CALIFORNIA – One person suffered serious injury following a multi-vehicle collision on Sunday. The accident involved two motorcycles, an SUV and sedan. The vehicles were traveling on State Route 74 in the Santa Ana Mountains near Lake Elsinore.
At 2:38 pm, CAL FIRE Riverside tweeted about multiple emergency teams responding to the scene, including 2 fire engines, CHP, and Orange County Fire.
According to CHP, the accident took place at 2:16 pm just south of Tenaja Truck Trail. Witnesses told CHP dispatch that a motorcycle hit an SUV head-on and then struck several other vehicles, including a second motorcycle. Riverside County Fire Department said one person sustained injuries severe enough to require an airlift to the hospital. It is unclear if more people sustained injuries in the crash.
The crash temporarily closed lanes on Route 74 (also called Ortega Highway), at Luce Oak Store Road. All lanes reopened by 5 pm Sunday.
